From The Book - Zero-To-One

Roads go ever ever on,
Over rock and under tree,
Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.

The road doesn't have to be infinite after all. take the hidden paths !

Reading Zero-To-One Book

While reading the book Zero-To-One, I just caught one thing from the book which is related to AI, in the book peter theil told that if you start a business, first solve problem for very niche market or group, solve it such a way they share their experience with their friends. Same happenned with Anthropic, in start they were not much in the news but they kept their focus on making their models best for coding, then developers started to recognise its potential and became the go to model for any serious agentic coding.

My Notes From - How to Fix Your Entire Life in 1 Day (Jim Rohn Seminar)

Jim Rohn

  • Study successful people

  • Read Read Read

  • Observe

  • Listen

  • Turn information into action , not knowledge

    • Study what you want to become
      • If you want to become happy, study happyness
      • If you want to become wealthy, study wealth
      • If you want to become successful, study success
  • EMOTIONS :

    • Disgust - I've had it ! I had enough of embarrassment of my personality / financial condition ! NOT ANYMORE !

    • Decision - For progress you must decide ! If its easy - do it easy , if its hard - do it hard, JUST GET IT DONE !

    • Desire - Wanting it bad enough. It comes from inside , not outside ! It can be triggered !

    • Resolve - Promising yourself you will never give up

    • Action - You must do something about how you feel , the world admires doers

    • Affirmation - 6.5 million jews people killed in holocaust , remaining jews together morned and together said "NEVER AGAIN !" - thats' affirmation .. They also decided to form a nation, invest on army, navy and airforce from their treasury - thats backing up affirmation with discipline

    • Ask yourself :

      • WHY ?
      • WHY NOT ?
      • WHY NOT YOU ?
      • WHY NOT NOW ?

There is nothing like a view from the top !

Great Read - The next biggest moat in AI By Jaya Gupta

"Great companies are not just places where talented people go. They are structures that let a certain kind of talent finally express themselves."

"People want to feel special: rare, seen, not interchangeable."

"The strongest missions are the ones that make some people refuse to work there, because that is the same thing as making the right people desperately keen to be there."

"For ambitious people, emotional validation can make people feel like owners before they are given ownership. For ambitious people, you will have to realize that there is a difference between being chosen and being seen. Being chosen is emotional: you are special, we believe in you, you belong here. Being seen is structural: here is the scope, here is the authority, here is the economic participation, here is the decision right, here is what changes if you succeed."

"If you have real potential, go where someone will actually see it, where the organization is willing to make your value real in the structure itself."

"Our psyche wants something to believe in. We want our work to matter, our sacrifice to mean something, our talents to be recognized by people who can actually do something with them. That does not make us naive. It makes us human. Great companies have always been new containers for that need. They are not just vehicles for products or profits. They are structures for ambition."

"The opportunity now is not to become the next OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Palantir, or Tesla. But to ask what kind of company has not been possible before, and what kind of person has been waiting for it to exist."

"AI will make many things easier to copy: product surfaces, workflows, prototypes, pitch language, even early velocity, but no matter how many pitches argue that AI will make it easier to build an institution, it will not make it easy to build a new institution. It will not make it easy to create a shape that concentrates the right people, gives them the right authority, puts them close to the right problems, and compounds their judgment over time."

"The old talent market rewarded companies that made people feel chosen. The next one will reward companies built in shapes the old market could not have produced, and the people inside them will become something the old shapes could not have made possible."

How I Got a Local LLM to Answer from My Data

I'm a software engineer and have experience shipping projects that utilize AI models via APIs. However, I had less direct experience with the specifics of training models. My goal was to take a local LLM and have it answer questions based on a custom dataset, a common task that turned out to have more nuance than I initially expected. This post documents my process, the initial incorrect assumptions I made, and the working RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipeline I ended up with.
